I’m not sure what most of the other people are hearing. I think disc 1 of this album sounds compressed to all hell. The soundstage is very narrow. The music is all right on top of you. RHCP music needs room to breathe and this just doesn’t do it justice. It’s not as bad in quieter tracks like Californication but harder tracks like Around The World and Parallel Universe sound like dog shit. It’s just a wall of sound with absolutely no dynamics. Highs, mids, and lows are all crunched together. There is hardly any separation. Then you go to disc 2 and suddenly everything sounds the way it’s supposed to. Sounds well mastered, the vocals aren’t lost in the back like they are on disc 1. Idk what happened with the mastering on this. I have to imagine the positive reviews here are either from biased RHCP fan boys who are hearing what they want to hear or previous pressings actually just sounded worse. Also, points off for shitty packaging and presentation. Squeezing 2 LPs in a single jacket is bush league. Lyric insert is also cheap and thin. The pressing is quiet though, as far as surface noise is concerned. And they’re in poly lined sleeves so for that I give it 2 stars. Pallas is one of the best in the industry. Just a shame about everything else..

This is restocked at Turntable Lab as of 12/07/21. Don't know how many left but it's a great price compared to sellers on here. It also clearly states it's the 2012 reissue which is a nice plus!

Edit - This is actually the 2020 repress although the listing says it's the 2012 reissue (mine just came in the mail). Apparently it sounds just as good!

For those hunting down a copy of the 2012 US LP, look for the following details:

- Aforementioned blue sticker on clear poly outer sleeve: 'LIMITED-EDITION 180-GRAM VINYL, 2-DISC SET'

- Top of the spine:
On the original the catalog number is written as 9362-47386-1, on the reissue it's just 47386-1

- Barcode:
Original is written as '0 9362-47386-1 9' and the numbers in the middle are below the gaps left by the shorter bars.
On the reissue it's '0 93624 73861 9' and the numbers in the middle fit neatly in the gaps

- Websites:
The websites at the bottom on the back of the sleeve are listed as '' on the original, and '' on the reissue.

Those in the UK/Europe will need to go online to get theirs, as they don't generally seem to be in stock in record shops there.

And as an aside, don't expect to be blown away by the sound and you'll be fine ;-)

Anyone know anything about this pressing?

2020 reissue, blue Limited Edition sticker on the front and no websites on the bottom rear!

I have this 2012 copy which I purchased off this site, is it normal that this version has the alternate outro for Easily? I thought that was only on un-mastered versions of the album. Heard it for the first time yesterday.

I can’t agree really with the positive feedback for this pressing. Surprisingly the first LP sounds not bad in places but especially the second LP sounds thin and compressed. Hard to believe the other pressings are even worse!

Anybody have a lyric sheet for this that they would be willing to sell?

I gave this a 5 star rating mostly because it does seem to be somewhat of a better edition than your regular cd, and while some aspects of it do sound better it is fairly inconsistent in my opinion, parallel universe doesnt sound as good as i'd like it to nor does it I Like Dirt and i think maybe 1 or 2 other songs that i dont care that much about, but the best songs are probably in very powerful form, that's why i would recommend this edition. As others have stated the vinyl material is probably virgin or very cared for since its extremely quite if u make sure it's clean (also that the other parameters of your turntable are calibrated accordingly). Though i would like to state as well that it sounds best with speakers, i felt that headphones didnt suit this edition well, my headphones picked more sibilance than i would say its normal, but i am wondering if it could be that my stylus is wearing out a bit, i will soon get a new one and will be able to test it again, still recommended in general specially if you can find it for 'cheap', say 20 dollars tops, less than that preferably.

Get this or the 99 US LE pressing then throw away all the others in a shredder. Best this album has ever sounded.
Make sure it has "CB" etched in the deadwax, and has the sticker that says "Limited-Edition 180-Gram Vinyl 2-Disc Set"

UPDATE: This has finally been reissued in 2020 using the same Chris Bellman stampers, and is pressed at Pallas just like the 2012 so sound wise it will be identical, with the only differentness being no websites on the back cover, the labels on the records themselves have the blue and orange water instead of the WB logo, has the new Warner Records logo on it.
Now Warner Records just needs to finally officially release the unmastered listenable mix on CD, digital distribution, and streaming services
