- Love this record - it's about the closest I've heard from the UK to the post-Love Arthur Lee music in early 1970s - less frantic/heavy than Vindicator - closer to Black Beauty or the Da Capo EP, more relaxed/laid back, but with the same awesome electric guitar / funk / songwriting / singing chops, with a natural, earthy African feel. Arthur Lee's music always felt very urban rather than rural - Forever Changes is totally LA. Another Forever Changes soundalike record from the UK would be the wonderful Miller Anderson - Bright City record on Deram. If you like that, especially the guitar sound, you'll love Pieces of a Jigsaw, also.
I like the two Osibisa LPs, but this is better to my ears. Great songs, great playing, lovely guitar, Roger Dean sleeve art. I cannot believe this record hasn't been reissued - if ever there was a prime candidate for a RSD release in 2024 or later, this is it. I assume there are some legal issues that prevent it coming out again - so you might be stuck with having to fork out dollars for an original copy - but they're worth paying, in case you're wondering about that.
