- Another old favorite by Marco Carola. Not as banging or austere as some of his stuff from One Thousand Records from the same period, but rather slick, with a heavy dosage of funk and rhythm. Stand outs are A2, Scania, with an amazing minimal arrangement, where two intricate layers collide; one is there right from the kick off, making place for a second lead to enter a few minutes into the track. So sublte, playful with irresistable groove. And the drum kick is a neck snapper as well; never too agressive, but steadily rolling and keeping you dancing. For some reason, it makes me think of Alex Under, around a decade before he was around...
B2, On The Move, the most upbeat track here, is not really as hard as it may sound at first, but it has this repetitive hook on throughout the track, and couple it with rhythmically dense sequences, and there you have it: dance floor going wild!
B1, Last Train does sound aimless and upon repeated listens it tends to lose charm, but it contains this highly addictive piano played melody segment, which I like. The beat is nothing to brag about, but it is a well executed harmonic tune, which refuses to be hard in order to sound good.
Overall, this is stuff which will always manage to work the dance floors, with infectious drive and slices of juicy bass lines. Not the one for the innovation award, but it more than adequately does what it is supposed to.
