Skips and sounds like 128 kbps joint stereo mp3. The distortion and clipping is horrendous. Avoid this release in Europe.

Worst sounding vinyl ever in my collection, go grab this release which is far better :

I found out, sadly, listening to this release, why I was able to find it at a good price. No idea you could get away with pressing something like this. It sounds like I'm playing it via someone's myspace background music circa 2007. Did they throw a lowmbps mp3 on here? Shame.
Now I know why the other pressings are more expensive. Skip this one. Sad.

I think this release has been bastardized over the years and that originally was a first pressing but manufactured at a different facility. My copy has the double rings like so many Warner Bros pressings of the time but has these matrices:
B923806-01 A1 MK
B923806-01 B1 MK
B923806-02 C1 MK
B923806-02 D1 MK
They are the same as the original here (https://www.discogs.com/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-Californication/release/9899740).
It sounds great and i think over the years other reissues have been added to this listing as variants and they don't belong. Be interested to see what others think and how to go about resolving these issues.

I wish I read the reviews. Man, this thing, skips, hiccups and jumps.
I could lie with the shit sound, but I must have cleaned the record 10 times and my needle thinking I was crazy.
Now reading these reviews - I can see I'm not crazy.

I have the same matrix codes as Variant 1 here except my C side code is: B923806-02 C2 HL.
Bought it on Amazon in 2009.
I agree the sound is awful and over compressed. I assume this might be a general issue with this recording though...

Man... this is awful. Bought it for my wife because she loves RHCP. Sounds no different than hearing these over-compressed versions on Sirius-XM. What a waste of 180g vinyl

Absolutely one of the worst pressings in my collection, atrocious, can't describe how bad it sounds. Sibilance and distortion throughout the disc, compressed, total piece of junk.

Well, that's sounds not so bad. If you got this pressing try to play with Bass and Treble. Because with default tune its sounds awful. There's no drums and poor Flea's bass sound. But at the same time treble is too high, especially on vocals. So, for decent sound you want to up the bass and treble a little bit (because of the drums, specifically because of hi-hat).
In that case it's sounds normall, at least for me. But there's a still poor dynamics and detailness.
I'm going to try to find 2012 US release for comparison.
