Reviews
- Bing it as his absolute vocal APEX on this set. I cannot find anything about where or when these recording sessions were done, but they sound amazing, It's large string orchestra backed Bing, I wish it was a big band orchestra, but the sound here is maybe the best recorded Bing I have ever heard. I wish the set has some sort of info on these recordings, but for the price, if your a Bing fan, get this set. I don't mind the instrumentals so much, as they go with the rest of the music very well. I got my copy for nothing froma record store getting rid of it, and I don't think it had ever been played, which is the case for a lot of these old box sets of stuff.
- Edited 3 years agoI love and hate this box set. I wish it would've only consisted of only Bing Crosby vocals and taken out the instrumental tracks. The instrumentals are pleasant enough, but I personally don't care about them. About the vocal tracks, I think they're pretty great overall. Some performances are pretty awesome, some are a bit weak or lackluster/bland. Here are some of my personal favorites on here:
"Marie", "Stormy Weather", "Puttin' On The Ritz", "Dance With A Dolly", "The Song Is Ended", "The Breeze And I", "South Of The Border", "Say Si Si", "I'll Take Romance", and "Amapola".
I wish they could compile all of the vocal tracks in one compilation. There are some genuinely good performances on here!
