'Incidental Harmony' has for years held my attention as pretty much the definitive Global Comms ambient sound- all the ingredients are there, from the thudding heart- beat like bass to the soft synth bursts & ancient yet hi- tech strings. It exists in its own, unmeasurable time, a nod to the past, a nod to the future, while comfortably laying down in the now. The two exclusive tracks are short burst, typical Tom & Mark audio doodles- 'Enlightenment From The Augur' is actually based on an excerpt from
Debussy's classical composition 'Afternoon Of A Faun'. Classic British ambient techno. 'Incidental harmony' & 'Sublime Creation' appeared 2 years later making up both sides of the 3rd disk of the 1st press of the '76:14' album. Here's a great way to own those tracks, in their initial 1st release.

"Sublime Creation" uses the same sample used by The Orb on their stunning remix of Suzuki's "Satellite serenade" and used by Underworld on "Mmm skycraper I love you" - its none other than from a cheezi Hi-NRG 80s cover version of Elvis Presley's "Suspicious minds" by the legendary Bobby O - original producer and the man who unleashed the Pet Shop Boys on the world. Its only taken me 21 years to discover this fact...! There's a You Tube link here so you can for yourself: http://www.discogs.com/Bobby-O-Suspicious-Minds/release/397310 Either that or they all just used the same preset on the same synth of course :-)
