Notes
The 11-piece seven-horn Either/Orchestra is a notable medium-sized group that has the power of a big band and the inventiveness of a combo. Their debut recording sometimes shows the influence of Charles Mingus and features the group on two originals by leader/tenor Russ Gershon, along with pieces by Sonny Rollins ("Doxy"), Thelonious Monk ("Brilliant Corners") and Rahsaan Roland Kirk ("Lady's Blues"). The colorful ensembles and advanced solos give the Either/Orchestra its own sound. Virtually all of their recordings (including this one) are easily recommended.
