O.k. it it’s now May 2024, over 50 years !!! after Sparks debuted. I admit I am late in discovering the fun and great music Sparks brought to us and still is making after all those years. I came to Sparks via Franz Ferdinand (the FFS album) and seeing some really bonkers videos on YouTube.

Over the last months I bought some 7 inches of Sparks on Discogs. Now I am the happy owner of 6 nuggets of my favorite Sparks period, 1979-1983 working together with Georgio Moroder:

    Beat The Clock (1979)
Tryouts For The Human Race (1979)
    When I'm With You (1980)
    Young Girls (1980)
    Modesty Plays (1983)
Cool Places (with Jane Wiedlin, 1983)

All worthwhile grabbing a copy while you still can and give them a spin. You won’t regret.

Just to keep us busy, they made a different Alternative Mix for Germany when compared to ie the UK and Dutch 7" singles.
The German one is mostly instrumental whereas the UK one seems to be more based on the 12" Long Version.

Judging by the UK trade advert for the single (see picture for master release), the 7" was also meant to be on coloured vinyl. However, this was not the case and no coloured vinyl copies on 7" actually exist.
