- My first go around in college was for a 'sound engineering' degree. My multi-track teacher was Dan Yeaney. I was already a huge DRI fan, and I was listening to it one day after class. I was reading the liner notes and was like, WHOA, Dan recorded this blistering album!! Dan is a super cool guy, and I got him to tell us the story of this session. This remains my favorite of the 80's hardcore. Just a stone cold classic.
- Edited 7 years agoDRI was one of the bands with more weight and influence in conceptions about fast music; you just have to check mid 80's british hc wave, or mid/late 90's powerviolence to understand what i say. Some band's followers were disapointed when they released Crossover, signing with RR, and turned they direction to more metallic sounds. All this gave the band a "commercial" status into the hc scene, but by other side, they gained high respect by thrash maniacs. Besides this, There is no band able to overcome this lp yet, and Along with VIolent Pacification ep, this is a Hardcore lesson from A to Z, and the best definition of a style. A must, a classic, but not only for the all great songs and lyrics contained in the recording. Dealing with it is, at least for me, (along with Dead Kennedys lps) a cruel and cynical radiograph of Reagan era.
