Alex Anwandter – Rebeldes

An album that is absolutely amazing and that can be considered the male gay version of Javiera Mena's second album ("Mena"), as there are many many similarities between the two: main producer (Cristian Heyne), guest producer (Kelley Polar), disco uplifting hits, and great epic ballads. The fists ones are so good ("Cómo puedes vivir contigo mismo" makes even better use of Polar's strings that Mena did in "Hasta la Verdad") and the second ones so beautiful ("Tormenta", with its layers of synths, vocal treatment and arpeggios is one the most beautiful moment of the album) that it is very unfair that he deserved so little attention, at least in comparison. There is a very talented guy here, a very mature musician, that seeing how this album differed from the previous one (the more experimental and also very good "Odisea") and how good was his collaboration with Gepe (Alex & Daniel, check that one too), I can't wait to hear whatever else comes from his mind, fingers, craftmanship. Very good. And, well, I really wished that general gay music was this good and inventive for a change.
