I could not have thought of a better way to present this album. The first thing about it that I noticed was the beautiful artwork, featuring stunningly clear and bright photographs for an act as dark and strange as this one. The glossy texture of the jacket is very pleasing to feel and succeeds in making the cover look even brighter as it reflects the light around it. The design adds to this an ironic and slightly self-aware juxtaposition of an embossed Totenkopf, nearly invisible over the white, snowy background. The atmospheric contrast goes even further when the music is considered, which sounds bleak and melancholy even for Death In June. As for the record itself, the 10" size effectively compliments the nature of the artwork, optimizing the perceived clarity of the photos while also giving the records a denser feel. The picture discs are, in my opinion, essential to the full appreciation of the artwork, as even the music itself is a snowy white. The pictures do seem to add to the noise significantly, but the noise isn't too noticeable over the dense production of the music. The omition of Maverick Chamber is quite unfortunate, though it isn't a very essential track to the album and it is nice to end the track listing with one of the most lively and memorable songs from the Snow Bunker, Neutralize Decay.
