Passport/Audion released some great electronic music in their short time span of existence. This release is sort of middle of the road especially for Emerald Web whos Nocturne, Sound Trek and Lights of the Ivory Plain exemplify their diversity with electronic and acoustic instrumentation. As a whole this album sounds very 80s with the garden variety DX-7 sounds and menial plucked dulcimer interludes. I own it on cd but dont find it too easy of a listen. One of my fav Passport releases is still Neil Nappe's synth guitar extravaganza July that is one hell of an album. I also think Barry Cleveland's other releases hold up much better than Mythos.

Interesting texture and atmosphere. Could have spawned an evolutionary branch to the electronic style tree, but evolution has not progressed down this experimental path. Holds it own 20 years later. Fire Mist is the keeper.

The flute contribution from Emerald Web appears forced in and can become tiresome, particularly in Sophia. This CD should have remained non-melodious, when melody is attempted it is too shallow and repetitive. Masley's contributions are important and spice up the baseline ambience.

Unfortunately there are no liner notes to explain what Mythos is.
