Reviews
- Everyone gushes about We Almost Lost Detroit (and for good reason), but I don't hear enough people talking about Song of the Wind! Fantastic vocals on that one.
- So many believe they've never heard of Gil Scott-Heron, but his songs "The Revolution Will Not be Televise," "The Bottle," and "Johannesburg" were all over mainstream radio in their day. Winter in America" and "We Almost Lost Detroit" were also big on FM.
- A Racetrack in France is a fantastic tune, it reminds of the time I went to a racetrack in France myself, everybody was clapping their hands just like Gil mentions, but I wasn’t really sure what was going on as it was all in French and I couldn’t understand a word they were saying!!
- We Almost Lost Detroit, a 1975 Reader's Digest book by John G. Fuller. , presents a history of Fermi 1, America's first commercial breeder reactor, with emphasis on the 1966 partial nuclear meltdown.
It took four years for the reactor to be repaired, and then performance was poor. In 1972, the reactor core was dismantled and the reactor was decommissioned. America's first effort at operating a full-scale breeder had failed.
