- Aye, does anybody know if "do your dream" actually doesn't have any low end or is it just the lacking soundquality of the youtube video? Cheers :-)
- Edited 18 years agoMr Yost proves once again why he is among the most consistent and innovative producers of deep house music that the scene has to offer, with the release of this exceptional and sublime release. His use of live instruments, intricate rhythms and gorgeous melodies are once again demonstrated to full effect, particularly with the opening track "Two Wrongs Making A Right", which for me is the ep's highlight. From the opening instrumental intro, through to when the baseline drops (which is certainly one of the most beautiful moments i have ever heard in any record), this song will enlighten you from beginning to end. The ep continues with "Do You Dream" which is another uptempo house track, with yet another fantastic baseline, gorgeous use of synth lines and the addition of a female vocal adding a special touch to this track. The B-Side begins with "Swingin'", a rather different affair compared to the rest of the ep. His use of live instrumentation throughout the track is certainly at the forefront, however the addition of a rather adventurous style of looped, twisted beats and rhythmns make this track perhaps maybe not as accessible as the others, but certainly not any less intersting or user friendly. The ep closes with the simply fantastic and gorgeous track "Days Like These". This truly is a track to finish any set or night off perfectly. Deep house music at it's very, very best. This song (and indeed ep) epitomises everything that is good about Kevin Yost, and what sets him apart from many in his field. An absolutely essential ep!!
