Show All 16 Reviews- Edited one month agoI'm used to the CD and Digital Master version from Tidal and Spotify. I still have my original CD from about '95 that I got from a friend. I played it a TON. It's a fantastic album and can be played from beginning to end. Having said that, this mix is not great. It's not heavy, it's thin on the bottom end. Like a lot of vinyl mixes, they tend to thin it out, when the engineer doesn't care. The detail on the cymbals and guitar is better than a digital mix though. I'd almost bet this isn't from an original source. I'd really like to hear an original first pressing. I guess I'm getting picky on my tastes in my old age. I've been told MoV is a gamble. This copy is noisy and has a lot of sizzle. Like others have said, you have to turn it up. Lourder than almost any other album I own. Very disappointed in this particular buy.
- This reissue sounds excellent to me personally, I got a new turntable and speakers 2022 and this is my go to album to show how much of an improvement the set up is. Every time I put it on for someone I start on Knuckle Duster and they wait like “okay.. what am I waiting for” and when it leads into Thunder Kiss and that first riff starts up it’s “oh wow holy shit” with a face to match lol. This is one of the few pressings where I’ve genuinely thought “this is much better on vinyl”
- Pressing sounds good but the mastering is quiet, need to turn it up, the mix is thick and well defined.. just quiet. More bass and low end than the digi version, which I appreciated
- It sounds on the thin side. Not a loud pressing. You do have to crank it a bit Being that it's MOV release it's likely they did everything possible with the tapes and mastering that could be done. It does sound great though. I played this release the. The Astro Creep MOV right after and the volume levels are so different. Yes two entirely different records, but the quality that went into the original recordings of Sexorcisto are very likely not the same as Astro Creep. That being said Sexorcisto is not going to sound like an audiophile masterpiece ever.
- I bought this not expecting much since I own the cd and it was compressed as hell. Same for the vinyl, zero dynamics, still a fun listen though.
- Not sure about the bad reviews myself. Way better than tiny sounding cd version I grew up with. All the samples of old horror flicks the zombie uses liberally on this album sound incredible on this version. Bass is fat, guitars sound right, drums too.
Hit play and if one min into planet MFR your not happy, you got a dud press. It happens. Ask for another. I’d buy again outright. - anyone who says this pressing sounds good is lying lmao sounds compressed to hell and back and the ugly sudden cut off after spiderbaby doesn’t do it any favors. this needs to be pressed on 2 lps not suprised to see MOV cutting corners here.
- I don’t think I’ve ever heard this album sound better than this pressing. I agree that the original CD mix always sounded thin, but there’s none of that here. MOV really does vinyl right. Very glad I purchased this pressing of one of my favorite albums.
- I had the purple one and sold it I regretted it so much so I bought the regular black one and think it is just as good if not better of a press
- This pressing sounds great! Was really wanting the purple or GITD version, but the prices were out of control. Settled for the black version and I am not disappointed. When I had this on CD, I always thought it sounded kind of thin. Not this pressing - it might just be me, but it sounds much fuller than the CD, especially on the low end. MOV has done a phenomenal job with this one!
