Reviews
- Of the million of things that Dego and Kaidi were doing in the 00s - and truly, they were among the most creative people on the electronica world while being totally ignored by the electronic music media still following the third hand trends of the clubs on the corner of their streets - this is one of the catchiest. As their output is so promiscuous they usually have a little of a problem with the albums feeling like albums, but this one feels like a band and like an album, with Deborah Jordan harmonising with herself and Kate Phillips (aka Bembe Segue) and the keyboard and rhythm programming following a certain mood. Did it happen by chance? Not sure. But it is a really good neo soul/broken beat album with the classic throbbling basslines and pads interlacing with the vocals. Almost all the songs are highlights, but my heart is with the opener "Who's in charge?" and the almost musical number in "Spread That" (Dego & Kaidi could perfectly do a Singin' In The Rain or Band Wagon with their hits to be honest).
