Reviews
- Mine was pressed by MPO France, anyone else? I have a lot of WaxTime releases and all have been GZ Media except for 2 MPO, including this one. I am wondering if I truly have a different copy or if it was just labeled wrong with the assumption of GZ Media, since most WaxTime releases are.
- One of the better WaxTime-s. I had trouble getting my hands on an original so I took a risk on it and honestly it sounds quite good, if perhaps a little sterile. If you crave analog warmth over all else you may want to pass, but if listening to vinyl is also about the process and physicality of it rather than just the sound for you, this gets the job done.
- Edited 4 years agoTo me this pressing sounds lifeless and dull compared to other reissues. WaxTime in general seem to be doing a really poor job of finding good source material for their reissues; I sometimes wonder if that is because of rights issues and fair use copyright issues, that this old material is considered public domain by some, but not by others, so they work around that by using already released material such as CDs as source. Compare this to one of the reissues from Impex Records, Mobile Fidelity, or even streaming on Tidal, it will be obvious that they used a bottom-of-the-barrel source. It's really alarming that this type of practice happens, disrespecting the original work and the estates that own the original source material by misrepresenting the art with such poor reproductions.
- Edited 5 years agoA nice, clear pressing. A welcome addition amongst so many poorer quality jazz reissues available today.
