Reviews
- Cant get into the B side sadly, but the title track is one of the great jazz suits from this label. Wild and primordial but with that wonderful 80's sheen seen on his previous offramp.
- An amazing collaboration album between Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays and is more atmospheric and introspective than the Pat Metheny Group albums, and foreshadows Pat's overdubbing experiments and Lyle's solo albums. I felt this album is a good balance of the compositional and performance strengths of the two musicians. The German pressing LP is near mint and plays beautifully silent.
- This was one of my first introductions to pieces of music that last for more than twenty minutes without big overblown solos everywhere. Side one is just pure atmospheres, developing in beautiful spaces, it's almost ambient but there's always something simmering under the placid surface. Pat and Lyle do dark ambience so well when they put their hand to it. Love "September Fifteenth (Dedicated To Bill Evans)" - tried to learn how to play it but I couldn't do it justice...
