One of my most remembered and special compilations during my teenage years. I picked this up in late 1994 at the record store in Los Angeles. disc 1 said trance and disc 2 ambient. Funny how anything not rave that had a beat and ambient intentions in America was trance. Taylor Deupree as with allot of instinct label releases did the artwork and layout. So even Taylor described the style as trance and ambient. He must be laughing looking back now. compilations were a great way to discover new artists and labels. I branched off this release and followed many of these artists and purchased their full length albums. Take a look at the artists featured. If you like them you definitely want to pick this up because there are a handful of songs only released here. Such as "Dive" by Taylor Deupree and "transit" by Prototype 909. "Freakazoids and robots" by Terre and Evolve Nows "extract" and "convex" are also only released here. Came to discogs 10 years ago and added it so I'm happy to have my name associated with it.

Part 2 of the Plug in and Turn On series is a good pick up and goes more tribal ambient and techno. A little bit deeper. Part 3 is ok and part 4 went into trip hop genres and the series ran out of gas. Still the series of four parts has a special place in my heart. A few years ago Dietrich Schoeneman sent me a poster of this release he had stashed and it's on my wall next to my speakers. Inspirational compilation.
