30 years on, I still think the very existence of the inferior Album Version of this track is a complete injustice to a great song - and is a black mark on the otherwise flawless "Control" album. The Dance Remix from the 12" single is leaps & bounds above the version they put on the album.

Heavier New Jack Swing rhythm, better percussion, additional instrumentation, etc. Why they didn't make an edit of that mix and put *that* on the album is beyond me (especially since none of the other singles - Control, Nasty, WHYDFML, TPP - have stripped-down album versions compared to their respective 12" mixes).

C'mon...just listen to how weak WITOY sounds on the album compared to the other non-ballads. Surely an edit of the Dance Remix would have better complimented the rest of it.

No idea what Jam & Lewis were thinking when they went this route.
