At the time this was released, I was surprised how people liked this version of "Adagio for Strings" that much, while there existed already the superb William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix), from back in 1999. For me, Tiësto stole it from the Corsten remix, not that much from the original classic masterpiece. So on this one, haters are as ridiculous as the lovers of the record. Me I try to rest neutral, but never liked it anyway...

A lot of haters, especially for such a high rated release, I don't really understand. How can you say Tiesto ruined Barber's "Adagio"? Two totally different songs. Yes, he definitely sampled it and used it to make a new song, but most music today and probably most of your favorites whatever genre, whether from the classic rock era or even further were samples of songs from previous generations and totally different genres. I think what people miss is that Tiesto was trying to make a great classic like Adagio more accessible to a new generation. How many trance fans really appreciate classical music? Not too many. If nothing else, it's Tiesto's a tribute to Barber, and a damn good one in my opinion.
