I have a PR pressing, sounds brilliant, lovely sound staging. The acoustic guitars sound like they are in the room. The mixing and panning of instruments is great. Like it was pressed today. An airy and spacious sounding record, and the rocking tracks rock. One of the nicest sounding 70s LPs I have heard.

This pressing doesn't sound good to me, the music sounds very distant to me, no punch, gonna look for a GP 1977 cut.

My copy only has "So Mote Be It" on both sides and no "Do What Thou Wilt".

I have an original version, made in Great Britain, its red and purple labelled and I cant seem to find the number listed here which is 2401002. My dad ran out to buy this album as soon as it released when he was in England. It has the Alistair Crowley quotes on both sides.

I have been buying remasters of Zep albums for years and was excited to hear the John Davis ones from 2014 and I do believe the CD remasters he did sound 10,000 light years ahead of the original American and European 1980's CDs of their catalog but I do not think the Jimmy Page vinyl remasters do anything for me as far as the original vinyl pressings go. The original vinyl ones are the ones for me, except for a few Japanese pressings, for example here: https://www.discogs.com/Led-Zeppelin-Led-Zeppelin-III-レッドツェッペリン-III-/release/1951608 which is totally quiet and dynamic. This was from the hey day of Japanese pressings and I doubt you will find any of them now that are totally mint.

I would love to have the Zeppelin catalog redone to vinyl using the original tapes and bumped up to 24/88.2 on the transfer stage and THEN remastered and cut to vinyl like the Beatles are done. So far, I do not see anything like that on Discogs for Zeppelin, unless that fact is simply overlooked by submitters. Someone like Vic Anesini would be my choice as well as a few others that are knowledgeable and have a great ear, or give John Davis a shot at redoing the original albums to vinyl from the original 1/4" master tapes. To have his hard work on the original albums put out only to CD and only issuing the "companion audio" to vinyl is a great injustice to Zeppelin fans I feel.

In the meantime, I would bypass buying any new vinyl of the Zep catalog done in the past 10 years or so and go with a 2014 John Davis CD re-issue or try and seek out an original 70's vinyl pressing in mint condition (if you can). The recent 180 gram reissues that I have heard sound like cold digital transfers of the Jimmy Page CD remasters unfortunately and definitely not worth the money.

A message was sent to me about the matrix on my copy of Led Zeppelin III. After double checking the message on the run out groove, It does say 'So Mote Be It'

"There are some copies with both sayings." You mean one saying on one side and the other saying on the other, right? That's how mine (non-MO suffix) is. I read elsewhere that "Be It" later changed to "It Be" - no idea whether that is true. All the combos are very confusing.
