- Tremendous effort by the great master himself. A phenomenal look into the classy Brazilian snap and flair that only a true master of music and cultural icon could produce, and was in fact achieved by, only Sergio Mendes. A absolutely blast of paradise, with all of the tropical and soulful vibes you’ll need for any occasion, from a late night study session to a beautiful sunny day to work on your 65 Ds19… anything is possible with the joyous sounds of Sergio and the band cheering you on, stroking your sorrows away on their melodic slow waves. Thoughts will transiently take you… then pass away as you get lost once more in the voices, almost present in the room with you.
What joys this album brings! It is impossible not to begin to sway to the beat, wether a sad and lonely song of longing or a beautiful peppy and equatorial Brazilian rhythm. After listening to this album so many times I eventually had to remove it from my album sales! Sergio and the gang cover some songs on the album, and in typical style, almost bring a new speed and life to them. A harmony and groove unmatched!
This pressing sounds very clean and bright, as one might hope. The bronze labels are extremely tasteful and high quality, and shimmer colorfully without distracting from the tone with too much brightness.
My favorite track on the album is “Pradizer Adeus”. Rich and melodic in the most soul-snaring away, it longingly reaches into your heart and shows the purest of feelings of loss and passion. Magnificent truly.
10/10 - Way i see the cover they look like the coolest brazilian hipster in town those days .
This lovely record from Sergio Mendez & Brasil'66 will stop us being rushing and will gives us a clear good positive vibes of all things around us .
So many beautiful things from this sweet brazilian harmony album.
Surely will cheer up our day - Dreamy bossa pop from the A&M studios of the 60s -- the Brasil 66 sound at its best! The style here is a perfect blend of real Brazilian influences and some of the hipper styles bubbling in the LA studio scene of the time -- all locked together perfectly by Sergio Mendes, in the twin-voiced style that let Brasil 66 transform any tune they could get their hands on! There's some really great numbers here of Brazilian origin -- including Joao Donato's "The Frog", Marcos Valle's "Batucada", and Gilberto Gil's "Roda" -- not to mention Sergio's own "Look Around", which is an especially charming number! Other titles include "The Look Of Love", "Pradizer Adeus", and "Like A Lover".
