- Like a letter in the margins of that book about artisanal coffee beans, and the trove of source material for that allusory AIM profile update, “Transatlanticism” is an exemplary meld of melancholy and disarming charm. So this is the New Year, don your most existential turtleneck, order those dark-rimmed specs, and let yourself transcend the Transatlantic into this sea of an indie rock masterpiece.

- I have the German pressing from Moviemars. There’s a typo on the spine. It’s a flawless pressing. Buy with confidence. So happy I got this. (I did ultrasonic clean before playing as I do with all new vinyl)
- My copy is similar except matrix says: WWW.CDFORGE.COM BARK32 372250 D24
Mastering SID Code is IFPI LM26
Mould SID Code is IFPI KN09 - Ed Brooks, the Mastering Engineer on this album, was on the Podcast "Vinyl Emergency" and revealed that the US and UK pressings use entirely different masters. The album was recorded on tape, but towards the end of the process, DCFC commissioned an SACD version. In order to produce the DSD transfer, Sony was adamant that no PCM source material could be used. So, they went back to the original master tape to produce the DSD transfer. The US vinyl master came from this DSD transfer; which features no digital compression or clipping.
He didn't go into too much detail about the UK pressings, but one can assume this means they came from a source that had already introduced some level of digital compression into the process.
I've always thought my US 2013 Reissue sounded spectacular and stood out as one of the better sounding pieces in my collection. Luckily, it seems the band realized how special this album was going to be early on and took many great steps to preserve the fidelity of it! - Matrix / Runout: WWW.CDFORGE.COM BARK32 372250 D11 IFPI LM26 mine reads: WWW.CDFORGE.COM BARK32 372250 D2 IFPI LM26
Starts off noisy but calms down. Vocals are clear on CD and printed in the notes. Beats are generally measured and interesting with some highly repetitive sections. A few of the songs evoke the Beatles on the "White Album". Can be background music or can be listened to for effect. - The 2 best songs on this album were the only 2 written by the whole band, everything else (other than Transatlanticism - WOAH) is generic DCFC, which means 'meh' IMHO.
