Reviews
- Edited 6 months agoI agree with others that this album sounds pretty good and that it is pressed well but I find the treble a little hot overall on side 1, and verging on sibilant with symbols etc. Played with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge.
- Sounds amazing, one of my favorite albums ever and this (sorta) box set is just amazing packaging. All the artwork is beautiful, it’s heavy, durable and a treat to flip through. Worth it alone to have the B sides which are brilliant.
- Wasn’t a huge fan of the remixes to be honest. One of my favorite nostalgic albums from high school.
- Edited one year ago3 x the love for this deluxe edition. The album is just beautiful and this remaster shows that so well. The 2 'bonus records' are just an extension of the beauty that is the song writing and performances of Benjamin Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello.
- What an amazing set of records. The depth and clarity on "Such Great Heights" is jaw dropping. Some minor noise at the beginning of side A but I think it's low enough to add to the overall aesthetic of "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight."
- This is probably the most perfect vinyl I own so far. When i drop the needle I hear a noise but after that it's just crystal clear. Wow. SO clear.
- Ordered this from Tower Records for a great price ($30.00) and it came in okay shape -- The quality of the packaging is amazing. It feels like a hardcover book -very thick cardboard and there is a nice binding. You can turn 3 heavy pages and there's beautiful artwork from their EPs -- in the middle page is a gorgeous 12x12 booklet with lyrics and really cool photographs. I have played side A and side B and the pressing is excellent. You can hear nuances that I never heard on the CD back in the day. There wasn't a single bit of surface noise and I the dynamics are super. Ben's voice is clear. The mastering is amazing.
Overall I'd give this a solid 9/10. Crazy to think in a few years this will be TWENTY years old. - Both one of the best sounding and most beautifully packaged albums I own. They just did a fantastic job.
