Reviews
- It ranks among his best albums, but isn’t one I can completely warm to. It has some fantastic moments - the three hit singles Scary Monsters, Fashion, Ashes To Ashes - but there is also a fair bit of filler. Sound-wise it is very solid, packing a lot of punch.
- It's got a couple of hits ("Ashes to Ashes" and "Fashion") and the title track is rather strong too. It starts off loud and on the right track with "It's No Game", a good hint of what Bowie will sound like leaving the 1970s and entering the '80s. "Up The Hill Backwards" is its weakest point. The rest of it I find is filler, but it's good Bowie filler- strange and demented enough to be enjoyed over repeat listens, even if none of it is particularly catchy.
- On "It's No Game (Part 1), the line ".. it breaks into pieces" only has the part "it breaks...". The vocals are cut off for some reason, the instrumental is still there which is strange.
