Minilogue – Blomma

Ah from the time of it's release way back in 2013 I found it amazing & even today it's still amazing from Animals to this superb album I just hope there is more to come from them Marcus Henriksson & Sebastian Mullaert actually Sebastian solo works are also worth checking out to top marks from the lads

I can't say enough about how much I love this album. My first copy warped after I bought it and there was no way I was going without so I just replaced it tonight. Money well spent! I think my favorite moment on the entire thing is on track B "Atoms With Curiosity That Looks At Itself And Wonder Why It Wonders", when the melody sweeps through and just crushes. Pure love baby!! :0)

Easily my favorite album of 2013. Easily. I listened to this the first time digitally all the way through. On the CD release, you will notice clever fading from track to track. I later purchased the vinyl release of Blomma and found the tracks to be of even more taste as they slowly dwindle out into endless layers of magic, but enough about that, I want to walk briefly through the album's primary 5 club tunes.

The first 5 tracks are intended for a dark nightclub or for home listening and dancing. Track 1 is a trip into psychedelia, with a recording out of the Harvard Psychedelic Club sampling a young woman and her observations of an experience on LSD. Magical track this one, weaving in and out of darkness and far into the light, launching up into the stratosphere at certain points.

Track 2 brings us back down from the stratosphere momentarily, hoping for us to look within ourselves for answers to those strange philosophical questions we have in our lives. This track is all about childlike curiosity and wonder at the world.

Track 3 is Forgotten Memories, a breakbeat techno buzzer with no less of an introspective message than the previous two tunes. This is of all the tracks, the one that brings me closest to my childhood. This is what it is like to be in a happy place, to be looking out at the world from a safe, cocoon like home of security, and letting yourself go by unnoticed as the weight of the world lifts off your shoulders and washes away forever. You are your own master, and it's easy to let your desires go and be a part of everything that you now know you are a part of.

Track 4, the most celebratory of the selection is of a blissful message. Once again Minilogue takes us into the clouds with the most euphoric of melodies and hypnotic chord progressions. The awe-like choir rides the sonic waves while we hear a heavily pitch oscillated analog synthesizer sing the euphony of our years. No questions asked, it is quite beautiful.

I would say that the last track is of a descending quality. Everybody has that comedown effect I would say, and this jazzy techno takes it's offbeat hi hat pattern to another level. Enjoy every second of this track which is best characterized as being half silence, and half contented plodding. A simple walking bass line lifts you up and down, and beseeches you to come down from whatever journey you have taken through the album, hoping only that you have truly learned something from yourself and from your existence. It's a fantastic way to end and of course with so much class as to say that you will come again once more to feel the sonic waves.

This is my review on the first 5 tracks. Many more ambient, sound track like audio patterns, loops, and outdoor landscapes await on the CD release, which is of a similar length to the vinyl. But gosh you can only say so much about an album like Blomma, because the rest ends up getting lost in translation. This is an album best experienced, rather than only listened to briefly or talked about by humans. This sound is otherworldly, so purchase it for yourself and have a great time.

Totally agree. An absolute triumph of a release - both discs (just as Animals was), from the the hypnotic & often deep, Dozzy-like beats of CD01, to the more eclectic ambientish CD02. I'm a fan of long tracks too so even more win. Absolute gold, well done guys.

Absolutely stunning album, and the fact that it was performed live for the recording adds degrees of unparalleled epicness.
The Extra CD that comes with the vinyl is a great blend of Krautrock and Minimalism. A slightly unexpected sonic journey from these gentlemen, but none the less, a welcome bonus.
