Is this one of the few releases (or maybe the only one) featuring the 'full length' Armin remix? The outro seems to have been cut on later releases (incl ASOT Classics), making the whole track about a minute shorter. Glad I have this one, this outro is more convenient for a longer mix transition.

Shamu is without a doubt one of Vincent de Moor's premier works.

The melody is euphoric to the point of bliss (then the bassline changes key and you can double that feeling!).

It's one of the happiest sounding (without being cheesy) trance tracks I know of. Ironically, there is a sad whale-like sound drifting in and out of the track too (which makes sense if you think of the track's title).

Also, there's a small ping-pong sounding percussion element in the background that sounds all too familiar in modern day minimal techno / tech house yet this is a trance track from 1998!

The Armin van Buuren remix is simply sublime, managing to take the original and turn it into something quite special indeed.

The breakdown is made much more atmospheric and the bassline is pure '99 van Buuren (think Communication).

My only markdown on this release is that the Armin remix wasn't given a-side preference, as most people already had the original release (Deal 021), the Armin remix is much longer and the Mac Zimms remix is very poor...
