- The production alone propels Tattoo You as one of the Stone's best. Every great Stones record has a classic song that's very un-Stonesy, and in this case it's the etheral Heaven. This is by far their most dynamic sounding record. If you like the rockers, checkout Undercover because it's not nearly as bad as some say.
- One of my favorite albums. Love the songs on this. The sound is very raw and low budget (IMO) but the pressing makes it sound great. After this album it seems things go downward from there...IMO>
- May not be the Rolling Stones best album musically speaking, but is absolutely the best sounding. just jaw dropping how good this sounds.
- This is a good sounding original pressing, and, for me at least, the last great Stones album. "Heaven" doesn't really sound like them, but I dig it. My copy is plays nice and clean with occasional faint surface noise.
- A sealed copy just sold for $398.00. I don't understand as NM copies routinely sell for $10-20. Something seams fishy.
- Edited 4 months agoOne of their last, if not their last great record. 5 out 5 stars. This sounds great. Made to played loud and at night. The 2018 box set has the best edition of this record that I have heard. This is a slight step back from that version, still very good though.
- Mine has the golden "promotional copy" stamp on the back. Based on the dead wax, it is this one as it seems there are no listing for promotional copies (fine by me)
- Edited 5 years agoThe Rolling Stones ! Noone expected something sounding so good that year, new british bands and sounds were assaulting the so called dinosaurs of rock. With A single like Start me Up (with its killer riff) they proved it they still got it, they were able to compete with the new energy young groups and singers - this make you smile, after 40 years of stones still touring (thinking to the few kids of the 80's still around nowadays - 2019) , but at the time punk and new wave were the answer to the old ones. The lp is great, one rock side, and one slow. Perfectly balanced between rock, dance, blues, classic soul (Worried about you is one of the greatest rnb tracks by the band) and a gem that stil is not able to be classified in any genre of music : the song is "HEAVEN" ( Please if you're sure tell me which kind of music is this one). They touch every kind of rock (from blues - Black Limousine to dance rock - Slave, a slowdancepsychoticrock jam with a great sax solo by mr Sonny Rollins, who even plays in the strong rock song called Neighbours). This is one of the last Lp reaching n.1 at the topten in the States. As piano players they got the creme: sixth Stone Ian Styewart always at his seat, Nicky Hopkins, Billy Preston and ... Mick Taylor who played guitars on the first versions of Tops and Waiting on a friend (way back in 1972 - with his guitars traces used for the official 1981 versions). A great LP. They toured the States and Europe with great success in 1981 and 1982. After that tour, stones fans had to wait 7 years before having the band on tour yet, but that's another Lp and another story.
