Reviews
- Edited one year ago"The Headless Ritual" is something like a modern classic performed by Autopsy - a band that cannot fail to meet expectations. The manner and musical forms are well-established and allow you to create more and more disgusting creative passages in a superlative degree. Probably, in the post-reunion period, this is one of the most intense releases, a lot of blood-red spots and unchanged horror content. At the same time, the album has a consistently high-quality and maximally natural sound, creating the effect of presence and contemplation of what is happening, there is some kind of chamber theatricality in this. Autopsy are unique in their vision of music.
The first edition turned out great - heavy vinyl, good design with a gatefold, a printing envelope and a fairly large poster. In terms of sound, everything is perfectly balanced and very lively. Real DR10, which is not bad, but in fact the album is very cool recorded and there is not even a hint of compression in the vinyl version. In terms of playback, everything is very good and clean enough, although occasionally uncritical light clicks from the masses are heard. The first press definitely deserves five stars, albeit with a slight minus.
IMPORTANT: Not so long ago, at the end of 2022 or at the beginning of 2023, a reprint of the album version was released, but it has a stripped-down design - only a single envelope and a printed innersleeve there are completely no texts and painted images of musicians, and vinyl has a regular weight of 120-140 grams. Also, the design looks much paler. And similar fate befell "Tourniquets, Hacksaws And Graves" - the design has also been cut in half. These versions are sold in many stocks without specifying the year of manufacture. On the plus side, I was able to compare the sound and it didn't get worse compared to the first press. But polygraphy does not stand up to any criticism. Be careful, if possible - try to find a copy from the first edition, or wait for the next normal reprint.
