Reviews
- Unbelievable quality of songwriting, recording and pressing. A perfect storm to produce the perfect album.
- Edited 10 months agoIn my eyes, London Calling is a perfect album, which is why I was willing to shell out for a UK 1st press. I received my copy yesterday (mine has the gold promo stamp) and immediately took it for a spin. I must say - this pressing is absolutely incredible! I also have an OG Canadian pressing, which also sounds good, but this blows it away - I'm hearing details in these tracks that are literally brand new to my ears. I've had a copy of this record in constant regular rotation (in one form or another, starting with a dubbed cassette) over the last 30 years and I'm hearing it the way it was meant to sound for the very first time tonight. I'm very happy. This is why I collect vinyl.
- Ha ! This is just ridiculously good.
Stunning pressing ! Never thought Clash can sound so gorgeous.
Wrong 'Em Boyo made me put my volume on 75% maximum for the first time after LZ Kashmir last year. - I have a copy with the following runouts but cant match up to any of the variants after many hours trawling through.
Side A runout CL 1 2 A3 CBS S CLASH 3 A3 ty cbs
Side B runout CL 1 2 B3 CBS S CLASH 3 B3 ty cbs
Side C runout CL 3 4 A3 CBS S CLASH C3 timtom cbs
Side D runout CL 3 4 B2 CBS S CLASH 3 D2 track 5 is "Train in vain"
Any help in identifying this variant would be greatly appreciated, thank you - I have a copy EPIC E2 36328 version, US 1980 I think. For some reason the horns on Revolution Rock sound really flat and quiet. Anyone else have a similar issue?
- Remarkable record and the original UK Tim Young (timtom) cut lacquers produced amazing quality pressings - imho worth the $200-$300 investment for a nm copy - you will not regret. Big full house shaking bass and crisp clear vocals that fill the room, zero harshness; can be turned WAY up like these songs deserved to be without fatiguing the ears.
