Hampton Hawes spielt genial bis far out

My original 1957 pressing, which needs some cleaning but is otherwise in good condition, sounds sonically excellent. The although Hawes may not be the most inventive of pianists, the interplay between him and Mingus, plus the straight ahead nature of the material, really gives you a feel for the basic style and talents of Mingus uncluttered and at his most basic. An education -- and always interesting to listen to.
