I First came across Iron Galaxy on Friendly Fire's Late Night Tales Mix (they included the track 'Attention Seeker'), and decided to further investigate by checking out this release on James Zabiela's Born Electric label. There is definitely a Two-Step/Garage influence running throughout the tracks on this 12", as well a few bubbling acid bass lines here and there, but all of these elements are really well balanced, and never threaten to overwhelm the core Techno/Deep House sound which first caught my ear when I heard 'Attention Seeker'. The standout track on this release has to be 'The Attendant Army of Rats', which is a beautiful slice of melodic electro featuring cascading synth lines and snappy hi-hat patterns. About two-thirds of the way through the track a rubbery 303 bass line makes its presence felt, and 80's inspired synths continue to sparkle over the top. Looking forward to hearing what future releases Adam Hodgins has in store!
