I can only agree with Jacques

Massive artist here with a one of a kind touch and spirit

Big respect to these kind of artist that makes you fly
Feel the same emotions when listening Pink Rhythm or Marya Takeuchi... special and rare feelings

    Got all Mike 80’s albums
But don’t forget to buy the 91 LP that contains a superb track : Ciao Senza. Sounds late 80’s and not expensive.

There's something fascinating about the late Mike Francis. At first glance his music may come off as a tad exploitative, pretty much in the vein of synthpop and italo disco that were big at the time. Perhaps a little heavier on the R&B/boogie side than usual but nothing seemingly remarkable. When I discovered this LP, Night Time Lady and Let's Not Talk About It were the only tracks that stood out for me. I thought his voice was kind of weak and weird (someone once said he sounded like he had forgotten to take his morning 'vocalzone throat pastille' or something, which is well spotted). Now I can't help but being addicted to every single song on this album, the moody This Love and the poignant Survivor in particular. See, Mike's (or should we rather say Francesco's) music is the kind that grows on you. I must confess his post-80's work does a little less for me because he seemed to have lost a bit of his edge by then. Plus he was mostly churning out (usually good) covers by the 00's. 90 percent of what he touched between '83 and '88 was turning itself into gold though. Stuff he produced for Amii Stewart especially was brilliant. Try Love, Together and Dusty Road are such lovely, soulful and tastefully arranged tunes that you have to take your hat off to the man. Once you've became acquainted with his music you realize he has a very distinctive style and a true melodic flair. Even his voice turns out to be outstanding with that low-key husky timbre that really adds up after all. Mike Francis was obviously big in Italy, his native country, but also in the Philippines where I believe he has performed several times. He never made it in the US though.
