- Anybody ever seen this copy but with plain white labels? Trying to figure out what I have, I’m stumped.
- Edited 3 years agoI own this pressing as well as the US 20th and 30th anniversary US editions, and I prefer this one. The sound quality is better than the single disc 20th anniversary edition, and just as good as the 2xLP 30th anniversary edition. Since there is no real sonic benefit to the 2LP 30th, I prefer this pressing of the three to maintain the original flow of the record. The 2lp 30th is a fine pressing though.
- What a follow-up! Not to say "License to Ill" isn't a fine album in its own right, but Paul's Boutique showed that the B-Boys were the real deal, and serving up some of the most interesting hip hop during that time. It's steeped in soul and funk, and shows off the versatility of the group that would continue to flourish with their next several albums.
I was fortunate enough to meet all 3 Boys during an autograph session and get my copy signed. It's one of my most treasured albums for sure. - If you had to own one Beastie Boys album, this would be the one. Party anthems, old school beats, three MCs on the go. A classic!
- a lot of people thought that the beasties were dead in the water after "licensed to ill". def jam had the bomb squad mixing new beats to old beastie tracks, but when chuck d. heard the "paul's boutique", the idea was scrapped.
this albums' production by the dust brothers and mario caldato jr. stands out as the beasties grow up a little.
