This is the record that got me into vinyl! Trent's artwork and packaging is always superb, and the record itself sounds great. Really underrated NIN album; Various Methods of Escape is a standout track.

Apart from some surface noise, this is an excellent pressing. I can deal with a little surface noise. What I can’t deal with is pops, clicks, and dirty sounding vinyl. Thankfully this pressing seems devoid of them. Seems to be mastered at a lower volume so though, so I have to increase the volume a bit when I spin this album but other than that it seems to be very well mastered. Sounds articulate to my ear. Plenty of bass but mids don’t suffer as a result

As far as the music, I think it’s an under appreciated album. I give credit to Reznor for branching out from the usual pit of self loathing, depression, and despair and experimenting with more upbeat pop and dance beats on this album. He still manages to keep one foot in the NIN we’ve all come to love

The copy I have is so noisy it seems like it was recorded on a windy day in a freshly harvested wheat field. Music is 5 Trent in 08’ biceps out of 5 Trent in 08’ biceps. But the sound quality is 2 skinny guys covered in mud out of 5 skinny guys covered in mud.

This record still has the doom and gloom theme as other NIN productions but somehow, Reznor's voice seems lighter on this project - as he experiments with tinges of R&B and pop-sensibilities on his vocals over the most smooth instrumental selection other than "Bad Witch". Maybe it'ss because I heard a live youtube bootleg, this group always sounds better recorded on stage than in studio for me, unless we're talking the first few Halos.

The sound on the vinyl is an improvement over the CD and the audiophile download - you can hear more of the music and the sound quality is terrific. Unfortunately the discs I received have multiple issues. There are scuffs, scratches and dimples. Disc 2 has a minor warp that doesn't affect play. A replacement is on its way.
