Just "unboxed" a sealed (2013) copy, to play. It's a great album, for sure - but least on mine there is a nasty pop on disc 1, straight out of the sleeve. Disc 2 seems better. Very unfortunate, considering the high-ish price.- Edited 2 years agoMy LP sounds really great. Clear, wide sound. No distortion or anything like that. This pressing does more than justice to this very electronic NIN LP!
Can anyone confirm that label C and D are pressed on the wrong sides?- First off, this is an almighty album - that is not in question.
However, I took my first copy of the vinyl back as there was lots of static distortion on disc 1 and some on disc 2. The guy in the shop joked that it was the music (cheeky sod) but my second copy had exactly the same issues at exactly the same points in the songs.
'All Time Low' has the worst of the lot during the instrumental end section.
Like a true NiN maniac I also had the CD release and knew it was a pressing issue. I couldn't be bothered taking my second copy back so I'm now stuck with an unlistenable version of a great album, which is very sad.
My reason for this review isn't to moan or whine, but I haven't come across anyone else having this issue, so perhaps this will help narrow down what the issue is/was.
As an aside, when the static spikes disappear the clarity of the recording is spectacular so I understand the 5 star reviews this LP is getting.
