Bola takes a break from his awesomeness to offer up an equally awesome alter ego, Jello. On VOILE, there's a stronger hip-hop influence ("Vibe-a-Rolla" has an unmistakable funk bass and electro trappings), though the angular melodies are still in full force. The cascading melody of "Ephemex" has a skittering rhythm beneath it, like the rocks at a bottom of a waterfall, while "Vamillaglade" is like the fine mist that flies up from there. "Chamchimzee," is much more straightforward in its embrace of the rhythm foremost, in the same way that "Pequill" glides by on its piano line and smoothly into "Neph," which again blends the solid beats with a free-floating, nebulous melody. "O'verb" introduces some bright bell-tones into the mix along with a filtered soul vocal that could have been on a house track, but here, aches even stronger. That mood carries into "Pi-Knipple," which is like light refracting through ice crystals. The funk bass returns for "Lungbone," accompanied by breakdowns in which the melodic elements shine through, and the mellowness of "Shinoque" extends to its easygoing rap. And, finally, "Conokut" takes us into an ICU, where love lies hooked up to a breathing machine. Let's not forget when they serve in hospitals, after all: Jello. And lots of it.

I have never owned an album that has invoked so much emotion. At times this album can be very sad, and solemn sounding, almost bringing me to tears with the tracks "Pequill" and "Pi-Knipple" but also very uptempo at times as well. "Vibe-a-Rolla" is some straight electro-funk-idm getting your brain primed for whats to come on this masterful blend of electronic sounds. As usual Mr. Fitton comes correct with very Bola-esque tracks such as "Chamchimzee" which sounds more like Bola on his original 'Bola 1' EP. A few of the other tracks like "Ephemex" or "Neph" probably could have even fit right in on 'Gnayse' but theyre just too funky! Top Notch!

Lost in a microcosmos of little rythms , flying harmonies and a deep acoustic piano in some tracks.Very complex in composition , very easy to understand.
    A master piece.

Bola's Darrell Fitton does some really great downtempo/funk-flavored electro-glitch-IDM stuff here. Think Bola except funkier.
