A summum of creativity. Very involving record. The group plays with an immense sense of interaction.

Side 1 is probably Keiths best Orchestral composition. Side 2 is very taxing for the first 5 minutes. Only slight I could give.

This is definitely in the top 5 best Jarrett albums and Side 1 'Beginning' is nothing shrt of amazing. The interplay between the musicians of the 'American Quartet' is outstanding. Side 2 'Conclusion' is far rockier but eventually cools down by the end. The melodies are superb and Jarretts Soprano sax nasal and aggressive. The group shines on their most focused record yet. Essential and truly great. A must have for fans of jazz. It's Jarrett's 'Tubular Bells' in my opinion!

There is something very special about this work. Bringing to mind what Bill Monroe called "The Ancient Tones". Some of Keith's music, though always brilliant, is a little hard for me to reach. This record came up and grabbed me by the boo-boo! It flows effortlessly through different textures and instrumentation, slowly building to the gorgeous theme. The band plays with tremendous emotion and feel. The music is allowed to breathe, rising and falling elegantly through the different parts. 5 stars
