This is a very good reissue

I bought a 3rd press this week and compared the 2 and whilst the 1976 press has a bit more air , clarity , 3dness etc, there is not alot in it and i was not unhappy with the reissue

So unless a bargain falls in your lap like it did for me , enjoy this reissue.

If it is your favourite album and you cannot live without hearing an earlier press i can highly recommend any of the island 70s reissues , the later ones especially are good value as they sound great... they were not pressing huge quantities of this record in the 70s so the tape & stampers were hardly being worn out

Well, I think this re-issue is wonderful. Lovely bottom end. Smooth top end (not dull on my system at all...unless you're comparing it to an acoustic guitar album made this century!). It's 1969. It's warm. It's mellow. But still, the woodwind, the strings, the fingerpicking have enough zing and tang. It's balanced, in other words. Personally I think this is how mastering of vintage recordings should be.
It sounds like a pink Island LP.

      LOVELY!
      Quiet pressing too,

Flat - No air around the top-end at all. Sounds like there's a ball of fluff on the stylus - You know the sound - Dull.

To my ears, in my system/room, this sounds superior to the AAA 'Five Leaves Left' that I have in the 1986 Hannibal Records "Fruit Tree" boxset. By quite a margin.

A got a nice quiet flat pressing - great value for $25 new.
BUT sadly this lacks the airy magic, soundstage and detail of the other 2 AAA sourced pressings (Bryter Later and Pink Moon.)
This is such a beautiful album - I think I'll sell a kidney and try and find an original 70's UK AAA pressing/repressing.

PS - Is it just me or does Nicks vocal distort in parts of this recording - such as during River Man?

Sounds beautiful to me, no noise whatsoever. Really happy with this!

I'm enjoying this record...its going to be ripped from digital. Back to Black do a good job in the mids and boomy lows, usually. Previous review mentioned loose lows which i would disagree with (i think it depends on your setup). I think it's got great separation and sparkles nicely in the right places. Some light noise but nothing to lose sleep about and I'm fussy! For the money this is spot on

Not scratchy, but it's certainly nothing special - just sounds a little flat and dull. Just sounds like an mp3. I suppose it's still nice to have that special sense of occasion you get from vinyl though. 2/4

Unfortunately I had to change this record three times due to scratches, the original sleeve is a killer! Since I didn't want to had two zeros and buy an first press I ended up with this one. I found it a great, great dynamic between guitar, piano, song and strings!

This one sounds terrible. Low frequencies are loose and boomy. I haven’t listened to the first release but I doubt it is that bad. CD versions sound a lot better. Such a shame for this excellent LP.
