Germain Gauthier is not a household name in the music industry, not even in his native province of Quebec. He managed to record just one solo LP (this obscure 1974 release)........yet the man certainly had a knack for collaborating on, and recording some extraordinary albums. Pretty much everything he's done between 1969 and 1980 has become a highly coveted collectible.

His recording career began with a couple of solo 45's and 2 rare psych-rock singles with the enigmatic Roger Rodier as half of the duo Rodier-Gauthier in '69. The following year he rips things up with some killer trippy guitar breaks on the monster LP from Claire Lepage & Compagnie. In '72 we find him on Roger Rodier's "Upon Velveatur", then on Ovila's 1976 cult underground album "Pass'moé un Québec". In 1978 he records the obscure "Sea Cruise", and finally in 1980 he records one of the most iconic (and collectable) Canadian power-pop soundtracks, "Pinball Summer".

This obscure self-titled solo LP has so-far remained off of most record collectors' radar screens, yet it's a great power-pop-rock gem, pressed in very small numbers, and it's not likely to see a re-issue on CD any time soon.
