Boston – Boston

Bought this album in 1976. Still have that pressing. I was 12 yo. It’s been from LI, NY to Phx, Az, to New Haven, Ct and now resides in Maine. Still plays excellent.

Think it was recorded in a basement studio on an 8 track board. Incredible.

Not sure back then they could reproduce it live.

Damn, use this to demo your gear! This is a fantastic pressing with perfect EQ and balance. The louder you play it, the better it sounds!

Very good version. If you find it for a good price, I think it's the way to go. I've listened to a few versions now. The Japanese pressing is hands down the best in my opinion, but the Wly is a very close second. The bass isn't bloated on this early Wly version like some of the re-issues. That said, you may want to use a touch of EQ. I can see why someone messed with it later on, but they were too heavy handed. This is a great version of this excellent album.

This records starts with More than a feeling maybe the best rock song ever written,and the rest of the album continues jus as strong.Tom Scholz guitar playing is fenomenal back in time his skill and sound was out of this world.I was 18 years old when I heard ”feeling”on radio and ordered the record the next day.It’s one of the best hard rock records ever released period!.

This was the first record I ever bought with my own money. I was 11. I walked into to the record store in my hometown and spilled out a couple of bills and a bunch of coins I had scraped together onto the counter. Five dollars back then as I recall. I remember the shop owner had a smirk on his face. Living just outside of Boston, the local radio stations (WCOZ, WBCN especially) had it on heavy rotation that summer and I had to have it. It is still in my collection and it still sounds great. In fact, I am listening to it as I type this.

Plain and simple, it's records like this that are the reason people still listen to vinyl. Has that "band in the room" kind of soundstage that you just don't get from digital streaming. Well worth seeking this one out.

Plus, a great album to have on vinyl because it's almost a greatest hits album - every single song on the album is a radio hit. The only other album in my collection I can say that for is The Cars self titled (coincidentally, another Boston band)

First cassette i ever had, now i get to hear it the way it was meant to be heard. Beautiful pressing

This Wally cut is fantastic. The production on this album is already A+ and the mastering does an excellent job presenting that. This pressing is a great way to listen to this incredible record.

In my opinion this is the greatest debut album by any band. Song after song, all classics. You can pick them up pretty cheap too so it’s a win win.

I likely had this release back in the 70s but it’s long gone so I bought a recent 180-gram release but have kept my eye out for this first pressing as it’s mastered by the one and only Wally and I’ve heard it’s THE pressing to get.

I stumbled upon one in a local record shop and scooped it up.

As an A/B test with the 180-gram this pressing is drastically better. (Not that the 180 is bad!)

Everything is clear. The clapping is real and you know it is clapping and not some electronic sound. The instruments sound real and right there as if you are in the studio.

I’m no audiophile expert but I 100% now know why some pressings are treasured over others.
