Reviews
- Why weren't the full versions of all these tracks included here? If space was an issue, a double disc issue would have been welcome.
- The older I get, the more I appreciate this one. I used to skip right by so much of the Duality to get to the acid and jacking of Double Play. Duality is to be savored. Sweet, rich chords and vocals that smoothly glide, gently rising and falling. The pace is unhurried, content to bask the listener in the deep warmth of its vibe and its beautiful instrumentation.
- Edited 12 years agoLarry Heards last cd in nearly 7 years. Much too long of a break. Bring it back Larry. 2000 to 2005 Larry had one of his most productive periods of music making. While all the scenes around him were evolving, taking off and crashing Larry stuck to his guns and like always, produced timeless deep house music he knows so well. Dreaming of Better Days and Deep Inside hit nice moments. While I find them good they are not on par with some similar styled ones on his 2001 release Love's Arrival or parts of singles during the period. Still the first half has some nice breezy house sounds than just barely dip into a jazz. But certainly lounge house you would like to hear at 7pm as the sun goes down on a summers day as the aptly named When Summer Comes. As the cd progresses and the second half starts it gets into more late night strides with even jacking acid tracks and techno like #13 the cd has a bit more club appeal than previous home listening CDs that he did on Track Mode. What is House almost takes on Abe Duque What Happened sleazy jacking style. Btw #12 and #15 are the same track exactly. Why he had it on twice is strange although I don't really mind because it was the reason bought this cd as he had it on his myspace page at the time. Fun futuristic melodic with chugging bass and simple piano stabs make this all about the late night. Fabulous and timeless track. Solid cd as well. Perhaps the most versatile full length from him. If you are like me then you blindly pick up anything he does.
