The first pressing sounds very good (Catalog #: BSK 3355), not sure where my copy was pressed but the mastering is ace. Nice, punchy drums. Thick bass, defined sound. Maximum separation and clarity. Vocal harmonies sound amazing but can lean toward the hot side at times. Raw element to the sound, high energy and gritty. I wonder if the B-52s influenced Pylon, another band who came out of Athens, Georgia around the same time as the 52s or if the 52s were influenced by Pylon. Regardless, the music is very similar in some aspects. You can find a NM copy for cheap, def worth it.

Hi,
I have a doubt finding which pressing of this album I own. It has the yellow "Play loud" label and no barcode on the jacket.
Matrix runnout side A: sterling BSK 1 3355 WW1
Matric runnout side B: sterling BSK 2 99 3355 WW2

In the list, I found records with the same matrix marquings but the label is the white one and all yellow label records I found have other marquings.
Any ideas?
Regards,

Mikael

All the vinyl copies I've looked at have 'Play Loud' on the labels (I haven't viewed them all). Why are some of the albums titled 'Play Loud' and some not?

This is the best B-52's album. Very high energy, fun music that created a lot of waves / was at the forefront of New Wave when it first came out. This album in a lot of ways defined New Wave and some songs like 52 Girls are as punk as anybody. Plus, Kate is just so cute.
