- Now im confused.
What pressing should i buy?
The Red/Yellow/Green Tri-Color or Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Stereo, 35th Anniversary, 180g? - Could use some help from the experts here. Looking for a solid pressing of Legend that has the FULL 7:07 version of No Woman No Cry. Bought the Abbey Road half speed master, which sounds fantastic, but the song cuts off at 4:05 in the middle of the incredible guitar solo. Bought the Island Records / Europe / 1984 pressing used here because Discogs tracklist said No Woman No Cry was 7:07, but it's actually cut to 4:05 also.
Any recommendations for best pressing w/ full No Woman No cry track? Was looking at this link below (2x vinyl 30th anniversary tri-color from Tuff Gong). https://www.discogs.com/release/5852270-Bob-Marley-And-The-Wailers-Legend-The-Best-Of-Bob-Marley-And-The-Wailers
Appreciate any input here! - Bob Marley certainly is the first law of motion, 'every little action babe is my reaction' as Bob would say.. Makes you wanna move your feet. I never tire of Bob and this album has all his great's although Buffalo Soldier is the only hit missing... But yeah this album is a must for anyone's collection and it certainly makes you feel like dancing 💃🎶🎸
- Beyond me why this isn’t in compilations as this is a greatest hits record with tracks pulled from multiple records.
- Does anyone know why this compilation doesn't actually in the 'compilations' section of the database??
- Does anyone know where or if the 5:27 ET remix of Exodus is on CD? This edit of the 8 plus minute version seems only to be on the 1986 U.S. vinyl version of Legend.
- The new 35th. Anniversary vinal issue with the two extra CD/Cassette tracks, Easy Skaning and Punky Reggae Party and all 16 tracks spread over 2 vinyls is excellent. the two sleeve stickers the big yellow Island 60 and the gold legend anniversary are nice touches, what UMG means is the original gate fold sleeve, its' been out yonks as a single sleeve and pointless just so save a few bob!
Great shame about the obtrusive and vile bar-code of the back of the sleeve and that the B side "moonlight" labels are not correct and too light but hey ho, atleast the text layout is nicer than the originals (typical EMI art dept at the time!).
What is even better those people at UMG are now listening and the vinyls come in the superior die-cut polylined inners, so much nicer and so professional.
IMHO>
I would not have put on Punky Reggae Party just because it was on the Cassette/CD version, and to say the track is a RARE "B" side is stuff and nonsense! It was on the B side of Jamming (a massive global seller and hit, so hardly rare and that was both on the 7" AND the actually RARE Limited IPR 12" ! Note Jamming and PRP had a general 12" release as 12WIP later on which was not rare or limited!
I would have substituted OR indeed added a one sided 33 1/3 rpm 7" of the full and unedited (IE crass faded ending) "Kinky Reggae" from Live at the Lyceum that was NOT included on that live album because of the groove spacing/playing time. but a MUST HAVE "B" side to the Live No Woman No Cry 7" (both white clouds/ pink rim and the repress orange sunset labels) I am aghast that that track fades out because of it's 7 min playing time. It's one Marley track that needs re cutting and putting on a 12" with say Lively Up Yourself now that would be a great LIVE retro single also reproduce the ticket too
I was on Islands mailing list and managed to blag a guest ticket, That balcony moved, it shook, it was a night! With the Island Mobile outside with all those cables what a night.........This I want to tell you is a Trenchtown Experience and it wazzzz!
Well done UMG for getting this one 99.% right! Just the B side moonlight labels tut tut aww and maybe BMW 35/1 would have been nicer as it's not BMW1 its TCBMW1 or CDBMW1 vinyl version BMW1 did not have those two extra tracks and was only single vinyl come on boys make the next UMG project 99.9% do ALL the nice touches next time.
The sound quality and mastering is excellent and nothing less than you would ever expect from Abbey Road. Well done well worth the £30 price tag. - Does anyone else have a copy with 5303052-A G-1 RM on the run out ? I received one today new from Amazon, wondering if it's just a black copy of the recent remastered 30th anniversary pressings denoted by the RM instead of RE.... Not often I receive something I can't find on here.....
- Edited 6 years agoAgree! Back to black is awful! The sound is very low. I turn my gain to maximum level and it s still low. Be patient and don t buy!
