Reviews
- Edited 5 years agoThe B-side from Stars of the Lid is a truly sublime piece of lo-fi ambient, painting a nostalgic vision of golden midwestern landscapes, where adolescents stroll through fields and woods in the hazy afternoon sun, lost in peaceful reverie, not yet aware of things to come. It feels like the elusive afterglow of youth long gone, mixing the slacker aesthetic of vintage Richard Linklater with the dreamy introspection of Harold Budd & Robin Guthrie. What emerges is one of the best moments of Stars of the Lid, quite unlike their more classical-minded minimalism: A sepia-hued mood piece with a quiet feeling of childhood memories lost in time.
