Reviews
- To complete review - Poverty In the Ghetto (released as Play Poverty For Me) and Africa Calling (released on flip of Back To Africa) both came on a Brixton Sound 12". 'Play Poverty For Me' used to be for many years an expensive 'Holy Grail' but has been re-released on a Quality UK RE by Tuff Scout.
Drumbagos Brixton Sound is definitely a label to further explore with the mystery how the master tapes of a certain Larry Crosdale ended up on this release and also some nice hidden surprises 'round the corner with Tony Brown's 'Inflation' (London Records 7") here on LP titled 'No One' but also hidden in full extd. Disco Mix beauty on the flip of Diane Lawrence & The Rebels 'Have A Merry Xmas' (Brixton Sound 12"). - Got to add - Man To Man (DJ cut to Reggae Music) credited to Jah Natty saw release on 7" on UK Label 'Reggae' produced by Drumbago.
- Absolute Masterpiece of 70s UK Reggae - 4x of titles on LP have been released on 7" complete with Dub - Survival, Set Me Free, Broken Heart and Reggae Music. There is a strong Studio1 connection via Drumbago (Coxsone and Drumbago knew each other from their days on JA before Drumbago settled in UK) with all singles released on London Records (and Brixton Sound and/or Studio1) published by Jamrec and with Coxsone CN matrix numbers.
