Reviews
The recording is austere but still engaging with good staging. But the playing is well below what's available on CD from Fretwork, J. Savall, & Phantasm. I even prefer the Rose Consort of Viols performances on Naxos, which are rhythmically dull but sonorous and harmonically rich.
