Reviews
- I have two sealed copies in addition to my original releases. I have them listed as blue and clear but have no idea if that's accurate. One has a hype sticker with a yellow band name and border, the other with the band name letter outlined rather than filled in black or very dark blue ink which matches the border color. Do I have to open them? I hate this game.

Have heart for a desiring but also poor student. ;-) - One of my personal favourites. At first I didn't hold much love for this album, but at second listen, and upon properly reading through the lyrics, I realised my prior mistake. I'm not usually a fan of this type of music: one that is sad and accompanied by rough vocals. However, there is something so sincere about the melancholy and thoughts shared on this album that the listener cannot help to connect with the palpable emotion. On too many occasions do vocals such as these come off as melodramatic or manufactured, but here they sound fittingly broken, vulnerable and reflective. The lyrics songs themselves are fascinating in sounding like epic ballads, but when analysed tell tales of simple provincial life and Kozelack's personal tragedies. The simple, yet infectious, upwards arpeggios perfectly serve to back the minute-by-minute storytelling and let Mark Kozelack's visceral vocals take centre stage. Occasionally, the music builds in such a subtle way that the emotions is only heightened, such as on the fantastic track "Dogs". The packaging on the vinyl additions, which I believe is identical for the coloured editions is lovely as well (I purchased the blue vinyl). I cannot recommend this album enough and rate it a perfect five stars.
- Is it just me or they used somewhat different takes and cuts on the vinyl version? Take 'Micheline', I bet he sings slightly different from MP3/iTunes version, plus there is a piano on the background, I haven't heard that one before. I own clear LP version.
- Edited 10 years agoMy mind is blown at how many people are trying to flip the vinyl edition of this at the same time. It just came out and It's only going to go back down in price eventually once people realize they can't all make a killing on a new record. Another pressing of 2000, some on red and the rest on clear vinyl is due for October 2014.
