System - System as reviewed by scoundrel

System sounds completely different from their other project, Future 3. On their eponymous debut, they eschew the melodies (or, at least, make them extremely subdued) and go instead for pure abstraction. They apply more of a clicks and cuts aesthetic to this album, with mixed results. “Micro,” for instance, sounds like it came off of a Chain Reaction 12”, while “Park” sound more akin to the work of Jan Jelinek. “Red Click” is a send-off into outer space in a rickety old spaceship, and the closing track, “2,” is dubbed-out bliss. While not quite up to the standard of some of Future 3’s output, an interesting and worthwhile change of direction for the trio.
